Journey Through Sadness

This morning I awoke to find my sheets and comforter stripped from my bed and replaced instead by a blanket of sadness that expanded upwards toward the sky as the grey hues of the storm clouds dull the color of life around me.  Words find me only with great effort so instead I will use music and sounds and words from others to share my journey through sadness as I search for the soul of this depression.

“She was a genius of sadness, immersing herself in it, separating its numerous strands, appreciating its subtle nuances. She was a prism through which sadness could be divided into its infinite spectrum.”
Jonathan Safran Foer, Everything is Illuminated

How do we rise above it?

“When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope.”
Pittacus Lore, I am Number Four

By his light I walk through darkness (Job 29:3)

Darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee
